why not put this policy then in the OS repo instead here?

oh is that an option? I was following https://github.com/wolfi-dev/.github/blob/main/.github/chainguard/staging-autofix.sts.yaml, https://github.com/wolfi-dev/.github/blob/main/.github/chainguard/epoch-bot.sts.yaml etc (maybe there is possibility for more repos in the future). Happy to move it if you think that's best?
