We are now running the Actions workflows on public Github Runners, but still using a slightly different Docker image that is hosted privately on the Github Container Registry. Vectorcast releases are baked in the Docker image. This way traffic doesn't go through the organization proxy and we get many more runners (hence simultaneous jobs) than the number of self-hosted runners themselves. Also, no need to maintain the runners over time.
I have pushed the image under
ghcr.io/vectorgrp/vscode_ubuntu24_ci:with_vcast.
