The images being referenced in these install docs are no longer supported by Red Hat (they're deprecated).

It's not clear if the instructions works with never versions of the images. Given no one is maintaining this I suggest we remove the instructions.

I think maybe a more apt thing to change this into is a blog for posterity and leave it as an exercise for the user vs something that we need to continually maintain. Or we link out to another website that explains how this works that is actually maintained

I'm not 100% sure about the platform support in general (IIRC they are still supported from RH side) but the docs are definitely deprecated.
@dsimansk and I recently chatted about this in a kourier PR when I removed the maistra images from CI tests, see also https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/introducing-a-new-operator-for-istio-on-openshift .

oh interesting - I didn't realize Maistra is no longer being shipped with OpenShift

It does not deploy the Maistra.io distribution of Istio that OpenShift Service Mesh 2 is based on, but rather a clean copy of upstream Istio that is rebased with Istio’s main branch about once per week.
