It seems that both
MPICHandINTELMPIhave oversubscription on by default.The only one that needs extra settings is
OpenMPIwhich has 2 possible configs depending on the versionhttps://docs.open-mpi.org/en/main/mca.html#mca-parameter-changes-between-open-mpi-4-x-and-5-x
The proposed changes detect the current value of the environment variable (if set) and attempt to respect/update it if possible, or overwrite it otherwise.
