Description

New blog post reflecting on workflow evolution from local dev (2016) → CodeSpaces/iPad (2022) → phone/AI agents (2026). Explores tension between reduced friction and maintaining intentionality in creative work.

Changes Made

  • Created src/posts/2026-02-03-hello-once-more.md with proper front matter
  • Applied 6-part structural blueprint: lede with metaphor ("old friend"), explicit core claim, actionable insights, concrete examples, conclusion callback
  • Maintained first-person voice and humble/approachable tone per style guide
  • Connected to 2022 "Hello Again" post's endurance training theme

Checklist

  • Code follows engineering principles (simplicity, smallest possible change)
  • Site builds successfully (npm run build:prod)
  • Changes tested locally (npm start)
  • Documentation updated (if needed)
  • No unnecessary dependencies added
  • Changes are minimal and focused

It’s been three years since my last post – and much longer since I’ve regularly written here! I had quite a streak in 2022, posting seven whole times, but then I hit a wall. I remember working on a longer piece about the organizational structure of government, even sketching out visuals on my iPad, but somewhere along the way, I lost steam and never came back to it.

Starting again feels right, though, especially with one of my main goals for 2026 being to focus on dedication and discipline. I want to be consistent in the things I aim to do, and this blog is a version of that goal.

A New Workflow

When I think about 2016, my development environment was all about maintaining local servers and using gulp or sass. By 2022, I shifted to the iPad with GitHub Copilot and CodeSpaces, but things have evolved again. Now, I’m relying on even nimbler tools: my phone, GitHub Issues, and coding agents. It’s fascinating how the barrier to entry has dropped so much. Writing, in some sense, has become much lighter – but also more fun.

This new workflow extends to diary-keeping too. Using an agent to document my thoughts, having it write drafts for me or just experiment with ideas on my behalf – sometimes it feels like it knows me better than I know myself. I’m excited to embrace this hybrid of automation and creativity, not just for blogging but as a way to think through problems and explore new ways of creating.

Thinking by Writing

At work, I’ve spent years reading and synthesizing information. It’s fulfilling, but not something I’d naturally do in my free time. Even so, I feel the pull to share my takeaways with a broader audience or, at least, to have a personal record. I have so many fragmented notes floating around in Tana, and I want to piece them together and give them purpose.

Writing this blog again is an experiment in thinking more intentionally and leaving a breadcrumb trail for my ideas. Let’s see how disciplined I can stay.
