Motivated by the latest performance related PR's, i thought some sort of standardized benchmark would realy simplify future development un this direction.
I would also be open to merge this PR, rebase #566 and #564 and re-validate their improvements.

Im using justfiles here.
I think you as maintainers should have a look at the benchmarks to verify that they are testing what you would like them to test.
