Based on kielstr's pull request from 2017-06-06, to freshen database handles when logging in, to solve issue 3.
His pull request included an enhancement that lacked documentation, so it has not been completed in 8 years. To try to move this along, I have taken the bug fix only, added a fix for one more case, when a user is created, and make this smaller PR.
This PR now checks for a fresh db handle when logging in, checking roles and when users are created.
