PR against #600 branch
Borrowed a lot of this from #593, and merged with foc-devnet-info support. Main priority here is to make it easier to see the example and stop hiding it with all the fluff that only we care about.
Confirmed working with local devnet.
Also .. this'll probably have to go away soon anyway, not worth obsessing over too much but while there are users of it (me, foc-devnet) then we'll keep tinkering.
