Duplicating a workspace helps Workspace Admins quickly create a new workspace using the same structure, settings, and configurations from an existing one. This is ideal when setting up multiple workspaces with similar configurations, categories, or accounting connections.

## Who can duplicate a workspace in Expensify
Only **Workspace Admins** can duplicate an existing workspace. Members without admin access won’t see the duplicate option in the workspace menu.

# How to Duplicate a Workspace
1. In the navigation tabs (on the left on web, and at the bottom on mobile), go to **Workspaces**.
2. Select the three dots **(⋮)** next to your workspace name and choose **Duplicate Workspace**.
3. Enter a name for your new workspace.
4. Choose which data and settings to carry over. You can select from:
- Overview
- Members
- Reports
- Accounting Connection
- Categories
- Tags
- Taxes
- Workflows
- Rules
- Distance Rates
- Per Diem
- Invoices
- Travel
5. If you choose to copy Members, review and confirm your selections before proceeding.
6. Click **Continue** to create your new workspace.

## Steps to Duplicate a Workspace:

1. Navigate to **Workspaces > More > Duplicate**
2. Name Your New Workspace: When prompted, enter a name for your new workspace.
3. Choose the data and settings you want to carry over to the new workspace. You can customize which elements are duplicated, including:
- Overview
- Members
- Reports
- Accounting Connection
- Categories
- Tags
- Taxes
- Workflows
- Rules
- Distance Rates
- Per Diem
- Invoices

## What happens after duplicating a workspace
Once duplication is complete:
- A new workspace will appear in your **Workspaces** list.
- The new workspace will include all selected settings and configurations.
- Any copied Members will retain their assigned roles.

**Note:** If you’ve chosen to copy Members from a current workspace to the new duplicated workspace, you’ll be asked to **Review and Confirm** this will allow you to double-check your selections and click **Proceed**.

# FAQ

## Does duplicating a workspace copy approval workflows?
Yes. If you select **Workflows** when duplicating, all approval steps and settings from the original workspace will carry over.

## Can I change which workspace settings are copied after duplication?
No. Once the new workspace is created, you’ll need to manually adjust any settings you didn’t include during duplication.

## Does duplicating a workspace affect the original one?
No. The original workspace remains unchanged. Duplication creates a separate, independent workspace with the settings you selected.

## Can I rename or delete a duplicated workspace later?
Yes. You can rename or delete any workspace at any time under **Workspaces > Settings > Workspace Info**.
