🎭 GoemonHardcore Randomizer – Goemon & Sasuke Editions 🎭

🚀 Welcome to the Goemon Hardcore Randomizer! 🚀

This release introduces two editions of the Goemon Hardcore Randomizer! Now, you can choose between the Goemon Edition and the Sasuke Edition, each offering a unique starting experience while retaining the core Hard Mode mechanics.

🆕 What's New?

🔹 Two Editions

  • Goemon Edition – Start with Goemon and Ebisumaru, the classic duo.
  • Sasuke Edition – Start with Sasuke and Yae, changing the early-game strategy.

🔹 Hard Mode Rules

  • Quadrupled Damage – Enemies deal 4× their normal damage. Most attacks will now inflict 2 hearts of damage.

🔹 Optional Difficulty Tweaks

  • start_flute: True – Begin with Yae’s flute, allowing easier travel.
  • flute_anywhere: True – Use the flute in any location, improving routing flexibility.
  • No Fortune Dolls – Challenge yourself by avoiding all Fortune Dolls unless absolutely necessary.
  • sasuke_mode: True (Enabled in Sasuke Edition) – Swaps Goemon/Ebisumaru for Sasuke/Yae, adjusting maze logic accordingly.

🧩 Additional Info:

  • Shops, Restaurants, and Cat Dolls Matter More – With resources being scarcer and damage being higher, healing becomes crucial.
  • Armor & Helmets Are Essential – They still negate full damage from a hit, making them invaluable.

🔧 Installation & Usage

Required Files

  • You must have a working ROM file. (I cannot provide links.)

    • Verify compatibility using the following MD5 hashes:

  • Download the Ancient Cave Starring Goemon Randomizer (GitHub Repo).

Steps to Use Hard Mode

1️⃣ Download either the Goemon Edition or Sasuke Edition .yaml file from the assets below.
2️⃣ Move your selected .yaml file into the Goemon Randomizer folder.
3️⃣ Backup your existing mn64_settings.yaml file! (This ensures you can revert back if needed.)
4️⃣ Rename the Goemon Edition or Sasuke Edition .yaml file to mn64_settings.yaml.
5️⃣ Run the Goemon Randomizer as usual.
6️⃣ Your randomized ROM is now ready to play!

⚠️ Known Issues & Notes

  • Some generated seeds may or may not be completable. Hard Mode increases difficulty but doesn't guarantee a perfect experience.
  • If you get stuck, ensure avoid_softlocks: True is enabled.
  • sasuke_mode is enabled by default in the Sasuke Edition but should be disabled in the Goemon Edition for the intended experience.
