How to translate AO2 in a nutshell for devs

As of August 5 of 2019 AO2 has support for localization on branch i18n. Make sure to use and push changes to that branch until it's merged to master.

As of many moons ago i18n was merged into master, but ask longbyte what is actually the development branch at the moment you're reading this since it always changes.

To make a new translation follow these steps:

1. Edit the TRANSLATIONS section of Attorney_Online.pro adding a file for the translation you're going to make.
2. Now edit resources.qrc and add that same file there too.
3. Run lupdate -verbose Attorney_Online.pro if you're on Linux, or lupdate-pro -verbose Attorney_Online.pro if you're on Windows.
4. Open Qt Linguist with the file you added in Attorney_Online.pro and that was generated by lupdate.
5. When you finish your translation, run lrelease Attorney_Online.pro if you're on Linux, or lrelease-pro Attorney_Online.pro if you're on Windows to generate the .qm file.
6. Finally compile AO to test your translation, if you need to change your translation get back to step 4.
