Listener error on android

Hi,

I have the following code:

    this.serialPort = new SerialPort({
      path: this.comPort,
      baudRate: 9600,
    })

   try {
      await this.serialPort!.open()
    }
    catch (error) {
      throw new Error(`Failed to open port: ${error}`)
    }
 
    try {
       await this.serialPort!.startListening()
       await this.serialPort!.listen((data) => {
         console.log(data)
       })
    }
    catch (error) {
      throw new Error(`Failed to start listening: ${error}`)
    }

    // More code here

This is working fine on windows and macos; however on an Android device, I'm receiving the following error:

Error: Failed to start listening: failed to deserialize response: invalid type: null, expected struct MobileResponse

This is with the latest 2.21.1 version for both the rust package and the JS package.

I've been trying to debug this, but can't find where it comes from to be quite honest.
Do you have any pointers?

A bit more on this; I've switch to a polling style way

this.serialPort = new SerialPort({
      path: this.comPort,
      baudRate: 9600,
    })

      await this.serialPort!.open()
    }
    catch (error) {

    }
 
    let busy = true
    while (busy) {
        // Poll faucet status to see what the end user is doing
       await this.writeBinary(0x19)

       // Read manually instead of listening
      try {
        const data = await this.serialPort!.read({ timeout: 250 })
        if (data && data.length) {
          this.handleChannelStatus(data)
        }
      }
      catch (error) {
        const msg = String(error ?? '')
        // Timeout is normal: just continue the loop
        if (msg.toLowerCase().includes('timeout') === false) {
          throw new Error(`Failed to read data: ${msg}`)
        }
      }
    
    .. more code here

That works on android properly, so it doesn't appear to be a permission issue of some sort.
At least I have a workaround; but the listen setup is a bit more elegant than what I have now.
