There's another issue open proposing a rescan button.

Instead, how about a recipe, takes any hyper module as input, produces the same quality at the current level as output, no productivity or quality allowed in the recipe.

Observation: Since I got into space I have seen a lot more old versions. Is it checking spacecraft when updating them?
