I would like to contribute by adding a Theme Toggle Button (Light/Dark Mode support) to improve the overall user experience and interface accessibility of the application.

I’m a bit skeptical about introducing light/dark mode support right now since openCSE currently follows a very specific library/book-like visual theme and aesthetic across the platform.

A full theme toggle would also affect a lot of existing styling/components, so I’d first like to understand how you’re planning to pull it off without hampering the current design language and overall feel of the website.

If you already have some design direction in mind, feel free to share a rough mockup, draft, screenshots, or even a small prototype of how the light/dark themes would look on openCSE specifically. That would help me evaluate whether it fits the platform well before moving forward with the implementation.

Hi @pushkarscripts , I am a GSSoC’26 contributor and I have prior experience in implementing dark/light mode toggles. I would like to work on this issue. I will carefully review the current codebase, understand the existing structure, implement the required changes cleanly, and make sure the final output is responsive and consistent across devices. I will also test the implementation properly before submitting a PR.

Flow I will follow:

• First, I will inspect the existing code to understand how the UI and theme system are currently built.
• Then, I will identify the exact files and components that need to be changed.
• After that, I will implement the required fix or feature in a clean and maintainable way.
• I will test the changes to confirm the dark/light mode works correctly.
• I will check that the design remains responsive on different screen sizes.
• Finally, I will verify the output and submit a proper pull request.
