"getinfo" does not respond unless rconWhitelistAdd defined with specific IP

What happened?

Unless rconWhitelistAdd is defined with the specific IP of the source, getinfo times out, rcon works as expected.

Server response:
Error: Timed out while waiting for a response.

This causes Server Admin tools such as IW4MAdmin to fail unless rconWhitelistAdd is defined with the IW4MAdmin IP is added.

Expected result

If rconWhitelistAdd is undefined or set to 0.0.0.0/0 getinfo should respond similar to how RCON responds.

See above. I only tested T6 but I can test other games to confirm if requested.

subnets and CIDR are not supported, only exact IP matches for whitelists, and getinfo and getstatus are more sensitive to being allowed for anyone to ping too, so having those OOBs only available to whitelisted addresses are intentional

is there a reason you setup the whitelist ip to your iw4madmin address?

I tried using 0.0.0.0/0 because not defining the whitelist ip was still causing IW4MAdmin to fail.

If I do not set the whitelist IP to the address of my IW4MAdmin Host IP, IW4MAdmin fails to monitor any of my servers because it doesn't receive a response for getinfo (because its only available to whitelisted addresses). getting that response from getinfo is required for IW4MAdmin (I'm not sure about getstatus).

i think you are misunderstanding, CIDR (the 0.0.0.0/0) is not supported for the whitelist, so by adding 0.0.0.0 to the whitelist, it inserts an entry that will NEVER be hit,

rcon works like this: if address is localhost (127.0.0.1) and dvar rcon_localhost_bypass is enabled (by default it is), OR if whitelist is empty (rate limits are applied in this case), OR if the whitelist is not empty and the address is contained within the whitelist, rcon is allowed to be processed.

getinfo and getstatus oob works like this: if address is localhost (127.0.0.1) and dvar rcon_localhost_bypass is enabled (by default it is), OR address is contained within the whitelist, the oob will be processed.

there is no empty whitelist behaviour for getstatus or getinfo, it will always be blocked if the address is not part of the whitelist or localhost. as i said before, this is by design,

but i asked before, why cant you add the host address of your iw4madmin into the whitelist so that it can do getstatus and getinfo?

I understood what you meant about the CIDR, I'm not trying to use that anymore. I did misunderstand your original question because when you asked "is there a reason you setup the whitelist ip to your iw4madmin address?" it confused me more and I thought that you were implying it should work without whitelisting.

Issue can be closed since I understand the design is intention and it functions as intended, does not impact my operation. Though a problematic scenario I see others running into is that it creates a challenge for people hosting an IW4MAdmin instance on a dynamic IP (with game servers not on the same LAN).
