Description
I'm sorry, but the onboarding is absolutely terrible. I've been trying to set up virtual environments and add Git Bash to the terminal in order to start working with Python code, but I keep having the same issues and errors over and over again. After 3.5 hours, I still haven't even managed to work on a single file properly.
As a complete beginner, the interface feels impossible to navigate. I can't figure out what exactly I need to do just to start writing code. I expected something like "create a file - add libraries - write code - run - save", but instead I'm constantly getting errors with no clear way to resolve them. Copilot's tips led to even more errors, and GPT and Gemini can't help me too. Although the issue looks simple. I wish there was a quick help button or something.
Even creating a file is confusing, like, I have to manually type the file format instead of choosing from a list.
I'm a humanities student, and VS Code is something our teacher requires us to use for the Python course, so maybe my complaints are insignificant and you can ignore them, as I'm probably not a part of your target client base. But I needed to write this, because at this point I'm close to tears from how difficult the setup has been.
