* Cinnamon version (cinnamon --version)
4.0.9 (at the time of posting)
* Distribution - (Mint 17.2, Arch, Fedora 25, etc...)
Manjaro (latest)
* Graphics hardware *and* driver used
nvidia / amdgpu
(The issue has been observed on two machines, both with latest Manjaro Cinnamon, one with amdgpu, the other with nvidia, so it's probably irrelevant to graphic cards)
* 32 or 64 bit
64 bit
* Attach /home/<username>/.xsession-errors, or /var/log/syslog
(I don't think there's anything "erroneous" to be recorded here. However, I'm fine with providing logs when needed, if I can be instructed on where to get them)
Issue
Originally posted on Manjaro forum, but someone suggested me to post it here as it looked more like a bug with Cinnamon.
When booting with X configured to use a color depth of 30 (as opposed to 24) the panel (Taskbar/Menu) is not clickable. However, I can access a limited amount of menu contents using keyboard, such as WIN key, arrow and Enter keys. Plus, during this scenario, clicking on the menu that I opened using WIN key would instead close it.
By the way, even with a 30-bit desktop, I can click the icons on the desktop (such as Computer) without issues, as well as perform clicking inside file manager and other apps. The issues I’m having seem to match those mentioned here, although it's mostly GNOME-related.
Steps to reproduce
- Set X to use 10-bit (Depth 30) following this example (on Arch forum). Save the necessary settings into a custom conf file in "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/".
- Reboot the system
- Confirm 10-bit status: Through xwininfo I can confirm the system is indeed operating on 10-bit (test videos generated using this repo also confirmed working 10-bit).
- When booting with X color depth set to 10-bit (30), the panel is not clickable anymore. However, I can still click on desktop icons as well as in file manager and other programs without issues, implying the issue only affected the panel
Expected behaviour
The panel should be properly clickable just like the rest of the system.
Other information
I don't have this issue on Manjaro XFCE and amdgpu. XFCE's panel works without issues. Not sure how many people actually used 10-bit, but from the looks of it, 10-bit is rather recent and there are programs that have known issues with it (some have workarounds).
