cinnamon: crashes when pressing the [Windows] key #63

Problem

When pressing the [Windows] key, to open the LM menu, the message panel "Cinnamon just crashed" is shown.

Reproduction

  • boot from .iso file Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon beta using a Ventoy 1.1.10 bootloader
  • install [veracrypt-1.26.24-Ubuntu-24.04-amd64.deb] using Captain GUI installer
  • check: Veracrypt is installed OK
  • note: the Veracrypt GUI is not started
  • open Xed
  • open Archive manager
  • open Firefox
  • open Terminal
  • press [Windows] key
  • the message panel "Cinnamon just crashed" is shown, containing the message:
You are currently running in fallback mode.
If you suspect the source of <...> using the checkbox below.
Do you want to restart Cinnamon?
  • click the □ before "Disable downloaded applets, desklets and extensions"
  • click the [Yes] button
  • check: everything works normally
  • check: the taskbar is OK
  • note: the "Ibus" icon has appeared in the system tray (clapper with green dot)
  • left-click the Ibus icon
  • check: a [English - English (US)] button appears in the left-above corner of the desktop
  • click the [English - English (US)] button
  • check: noting happens
  • right-click the Ibus icon
  • check: a menu with the options "Preferences, Emoji Choice, About, Restart, Quit" appears in the left-above corner of the desktop
  • go to [LM menu\Administration\Software Information\Crash reports]
  • check: the following report is shown:
