xdg-desktop-portal-xapp: crash at startup

Hello! I'm not very good at writing bug reports, so please bear with me. When I start my laptop from being completely shut down, some of the apps tuns into light theme, mostly Adwaita apps and Firefox. I'm using the "Advanced" option in the theme setting. It happen after today's update.

Steps to Reproduce: (Updated)

1. Use simplified theme settings and change to Mint Y Dark
2. Wait and make sure it's on dark theme
3. Shutdown and then boot again
4. Change theme to a different color scheme using advanced option (Dark Variant)
5. Shutdown and then boot again
6. Firefox and GTK apps should be in dark mode
7. Shut down and boot again
8. Observe Firefox and GTK Apps still in dark mode
9. Shut down and boot again
10. Observe Firefox and GTK Apps are light mode

Expected Behavior:
Apps should start up with the dark color theme I selected in the system settings.

Actual Behavior:
After a cold boot, some of the apps uses a light theme instead (eg. Firefox and Resources). I have to go into settings then reboot (relog doesn't work) to manually switch it back to my preferred dark theme.

Additional Information:

• Linux Mint Version: 22.3 Beta
• Desktop Environment: Cinnamon 6.6.2

Go in the simplified theme settings and select Dark.

In the Settings tab you can also force all apps to be dark.

I have already done that, all mint's app are in dark mode but Flatpak GTK apps are still in light mode. QT apps seems unaffected.

Flatpak GNOME apps... hmm.. this sounds like libAdwaita breaking theme compatibility again.

Here are some more examples. On the left is the Zotero app as a binary package that follows dark mode and accent color. On the right is Mint's Firefox, which doesn't follow dark mode.

OK let's focus on Firefox (not flatpak, not a GNOME app).

I can't reproduce the issue when I do:

• Launch Firefox
• Launch theme settings
• Choose simplified settings
• Choose Mint-Y
• Choose Dark
• Observe Firefox being dark
• Shutdown completely
• Boot again, log in.
• Launch Firefox -> It's still dark.

Make sure you've got xdg-desktop-portal-xapp running and explain exactly how to reproduce the issue, step by step.

Do application color schemes work properly while it runs?

Can you check the System Information app and see if there's a crash report for xdg-desktop-portal-xapp? See https://projects.linuxmint.com/reference/git/bugs/mintreport-crash-info.html for more detail how to do this.

No it doesn't, there's no crash report related to xdg-desktop-portal-xapp

I've managed to reproduce the bug fairly consistently. I'll update the steps to reproduce it.
