Bug description
I have an issue where some but not all application launchers on my panel revert to their default icons after restarting the desktop environment, either through a forced DE restart, logging into the DE or restarting my PC. This only started occurring after upgrading from Mint 22.2 to 22.3, and doesn't apply to all launchers with custom icons on my panel. But is reliably repeatable for some.
Steps to reproduce
For example:
- Install the system package version for Kate (as an example), either through apt or the software manager.
- Add the application launcher to your main panel
- Go to the application launcher, and select a custom svg icon through Launcher/Properties/Icon/Browse and then select.
- Once the change is visible on the panel and the launcher, do one of these:
4.1 Restart your PC
4.2 Log out of your desktop environment and log back in
4.3 CTRL + ALT + ESC (restart DE)
- Any of these reliably cause the custom launcher icon to revert back to the original package icon, or theme icon (if applicable)
Expected behavior
The custom icon would persists through a DE restart.
