The Gaussian as a Schwartz function

Define the Gaussian (for an arbitrary positive definite bilinear form) as a Schwartz function. It might be necessary to do the 1-d case first and then do the general case as a second step.

Please let me know if this approach sounds good.
My plan is to start with the 1-d Gaussian and show it is a Schwartz function, then generalize to the positive definite bilinear form case.

Great! There are related calculations with the Fourier transform, which uses a similar approach if I remember correctly.
