I get this error when launching JD-GUI on macOS Sonoma:

ERROR launching 'JD-GUI'

No suitable Java version found on your system!
This program requires Java 1.8+
Make sure you install the required Java version.

I have this version of Java installed:

java -version                             
openjdk version "21.0.3" 2024-04-16
OpenJDK Runtime Environment Homebrew (build 21.0.3)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM Homebrew (build 21.0.3, mixed mode, sharing)

Is there a workaround or fix for this?

I've encountered the same problem... and finding the solution.

I just tried this to modify .sh script, changing the Java version requirement from 1.8+ to 1.8. And it works to run on my Mac.

I encountered the same issue and then end up using .jar release.

java -jar jd-gui-1.6.6.jar
