About the project: Civic Tech Jobs will be a platform to help prospective volunteers find interdisciplinary projects that will be useful for their career development while contributing to positive civic impact.
Volunteer Opportunity: We are seeking a Lead Developer to help guide and steward the development of our web application, Civic Tech Jobs.
At minimum, we’re looking for a strong back-end developer. Ideally, this person also has experience in backend data architecture and system-level thinking, and can collaborate closely with DevOps when needed.
We are looking for volunteers with an Intermediate level (or above) background in full-stack development.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead weekly developer meetings (schedule flexible)
- Support ticket creation and GitHub management (agenda-setting, tracking, completion)
- Coordinate with the PM team on progress and updates
- Attend monthly CTJ Leads meetings and meetings with the Organizational Product Lead
- Review pull requests
- Review and maintain documentation
We are open to adjusting responsibilities based on your availability and strengths.
Our Tech stack includes:
Frontend:
React, JavaScript, TypeScript, SCSS, HTML, CSS, Tailwind
Backend:
Python, Django, SQL (Postgres), Docker, Shell
Duration: 12-24 months of commitment volunteering 6 hours a week
