Redis version support and/or Valkey?

Hi,

currently miniredis supports/is tested against Redis 7.2.4, because that's the last version Redis Labs released with a nice open-source license. I assume you're familiar with that history, so I won't rehash. Afterwards they did backtrack details, but I don't quite trust them to not do the same thing again tomorrow.

Valkey seems to be the de-facto open source replacement (as also noted by someone in a PR here somewhere...). So there are some options for miniredis:

• freeze the state at implementing "Redis 7.2.4"
• follow the main open-source-again Redis
• switch to Valkey
• support two versions somehow

Any thoughts or wishes?

Hello.
I’m a user of this package and have been using it to run tests against Redis.
In light of the OSS-related issues and the subsequent developments, I’ve decided to migrate from Redis to ValKey.
This decision is based on the fact that AWS offers ElastiCache for ValKey at a lower cost than Redis.

We would be very happy if you decide to follow ValKey as well, but we will respect your decision.
