How to manually trigger DNS resolution for changing the name in database

Hello,
as far as I understand, DNS lookup only takes place, when an IP address is discovered for the first time. Is there a way to manually retrigger a DNS lookup on demand, so that the name un DB will change, when I add the corresponding PTR record in my DNS server?
