Asset depreciationStartDate not setting

When doing a Create Asset operation both in the API Explorer and using my own code, the bookDepreciationDetail.depreciationStartDate is not applying to the created asset.

Here is the request made in the API Explorer with the start date set:

The response indicates it is accepted:

But the created Asset in Xero does not have this field:

I've tried various different dates - both before and after the account's asset start date, both past and future, and nothing has worked.

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to log an issue of this nature, but with the demise of the community forums I'm not sure where else one might go.
