Do you plan to add support for Sony Bravia 8

Sony Bravia models 2024-2025 use the same file format as Philips in the last 2 years (format 120 and 125).
I guess they use some of the same internal components and firmware parts.
Two days ago I received information on how to fix sorting for Philips (which I though was inherently impossible), so there is a chance that this might also work for Sony Bravia.
I'm currently working on it and hope to get it done on the weekend.

Since I don't own any Sony TVs, can you please tell me:

• what kind of input you are using (antenna, cable TV, satellite)
• if your TV shows TV and radio channels in separate lists or in one combined list
• if they are in separate list, do the channel numbers for TV and radio both start at 1 or do radio channels start after the last TV channel

I am using Cable TV digital input. TV starts at 1 Radio channels starts after TV channels (Numbering continue)
I see the list TV and Radio channels list as 1 combined channel list. I am attaching the sdb.xml file. It is exported from the TV without changes in it.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a Sony TV and can't test it myself.

A Philips TV owner, who is helping me to get this also working for his TV, told me that after the import, when his TV shows a message box "Import finished", he MUST NOT press the OK button, but instead unplug his TV.
Only then will the TV keep the modified list. Otherwise it will automatically revert to the old numbers again.
Maybe that's also required for your Sony, maybe not.

Please let me know if your TV accepts the modified list (and without or with unplugging).

I have the newly released Bravia 8II and it also uses the sdb.xml files, when using the latest public release (2025-03-08) it won't work, nor does the beta version linked above. I have added my own xml file in case there are differences between the B8 and B8II models as this is a Google TV whereas the B8 might be an Android TV and there might be some variations?

The Antenna, Cable and Satellite options all start at 1, and there is a favourite channels option that combines channels from all sources, but that doesn't seem to be allowed in ChanSort for these .xml files but can be done on the TV direct.

Hi pburke90, thanks for your file and the information.
I confirmed that ChanSort 2025-06-06 was changing the file content exactly "as intended", which seems to work for Philips.

If the Sony completely ignores the changes and shows the same channel order as before, I guess it ignores the readable part of the XML file and instead only works with the native compressed/encrypted MediaTek data inside it, which holds the raw tuner data.
Unfortunately there is no way for me to decrypt and edit this part.

Also, this file doesn't contain any information about favorites at all - at least not in the readable part of the XML.

I definitely had a Favourite list when I exported the channels, so the TV must not be including that in the exported file or it is locked behind the encrypted part, which is a shame. Thanks anyway.

Do you still have the sdb.xml.bak file around (ChanSort creates it as a backup of the original file)?
I just noticed that sdb.xml you sent me was already edited by ChanSort, so my validation was of little use.
