[Beta][Bug] USB HDD issue after beta update

What happened?

Hello,

I have 2 usb hdd and they are not showing anymore after the 1.6.0 beta update. How can be fixed or what i must upload so you guys can verify what happen!

After filtering all the logs via AI seem to be this issues :

ZimaOS — USB drives not visible in UI (bug report)

Environment:

ZimaOS build date: 2026-03-27T09:43:47Z (git commit: eec62c7fe66ae7d569ccf486092f738d39ec2650)

Hardware: ZimaBoard with Seagate FireCuda Gaming Hub, WD Elements Desktop 8TB, Sabrent NVMe via RTL9210 USB adapter, Samsung SSD 860 EVO

Root Cause 1 — udev event buffer exhausted

The zimaos-local-storage service fails to monitor block device events due to a full udev buffer:

udev err: unable to check available uevent, err: no buffer space available
As a result, the service cannot detect USB drives being added or changed after boot.

Root Cause 2 — zimaos-local-storage-first only mounts a single drive

At every boot, zimaos-local-storage-first.service only attempts to mount /dev/sdb → /media/sda. Drives /dev/sda (WD 8TB), /dev/sdc (Seagate 8TB), and /dev/sdd (Intel/Sabrent SSD) are completely ignored during initialization. No mount units are created for them.

Root Cause 3 — SMART initialization failure blocks drive registration

smartctl fails on /dev/sdb (Realtek RTL9210 USB-NVMe bridge, 0x0bda:0x9210) and on /dev/sde (not found):

/dev/sdb: Unknown USB bridge [0x0bda:0x9201 (0xf200)]
Smartctl open device: /dev/sde failed: No such device
This SMART failure appears to block or delay the full initialization of those drives in the storage service, preventing them from appearing in the ZimaOS UI.

Root Cause 4 — JWT token expiry prevents UI from loading storage list

Immediately after boot, the UI receives 401 Unauthorized responses from the storage API:

status:401, message=invalid or expired jwt
This causes the storage page to appear empty even when drives are partially registered.

Observed result: Only 1 out of 4 USB drives (/dev/sdb) is mounted and visible. The remaining 3 drives are detected by the kernel (lsblk, dmesg, lsusb) but never appear in ZimaOS UI or Files app.

Expected result: All USB drives recognized by the kernel should be auto-mounted and visible in the ZimaOS storage UI.

Same issue on ZimaBoard 2 with ZimaOS v1.6.0 Beta. External USB drives not detected/mounted. Downgraded to v1.5.1 and everything is back to normal.

Found the issue but is a bit complicated to fix it. But try first time to restart the zima storage service. Normally they will show in cli but they will not be mounted. After that you need to enable them. After that if you have custom names you must edit the .db to save them permanently because i have try with fstab and after reboot didnt survive. I will try remake the steps and post them. My advice wait for devs output.
I had to fix the issue because is on a productive surveillance system and i need it up.

same here...update to 1.6.0 stable, still no mounted USB external HD.
