Pre-Submission Formatting Tasks

Before submitting to PLOS Computational Biology, the following formatting changes need to be made:

1. Enable Double Spacing

  • Change _quarto.yml line 19: linestretch: 1linestretch: 2
  • Currently set to single spacing for readability during development
  • PLOS requires double spacing for reviewer convenience

2. Enable Line Numbers

  • Change _quarto.yml line 20: linenumbers: falselinenumbers: true
  • Line numbers help reviewers reference specific locations in the manuscript

3. Remove Funding Information from Manuscript

  • Remove the "Funding Information" section from index.qmd (currently around lines 657-662)
  • PLOS requires funding information ONLY in the submission system's financial disclosure section
  • DO NOT include funding in the manuscript file

4. Add Funding to Submission System

  • Copy funding information from the manuscript's current Funding Information section
  • Paste into the Financial Disclosure section of the PLOS submission system
  • Add required statement: "The funders had no role in study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript."
