Enabling User Edits and Save Functionality in Shared Sessions

Hey!

Really digging CodeRev! Quick thought - what if people could mess around with the code directly after clicking a share link? Then we could check out what they did later, not just the comments.

Plus, would be cool to see the changes they make compared to the original. Kind of like a quick peek at what's different.

Thought about it and I think it would be a good addition.

The initial intent was to make it readonly, but I don't see why it can't be read-write. It would create a new instance of the file per-user and then this would also allow doing a side-by-side diff.

There are definitely some challenges like if a user adds a comment on line 30 and then adds new lines on line 20, the comment state needs to know of the delta and offset accordingly. This feels non-trivial, especially if the change bisects a range. For example, a comment is attached to lines 20-30 and the user adds a new line at 25.

Do you have thoughts/ideas on how to handle this case?

I'm going to add this to my backlog.
