[BUG] aztec-up not choosing correct version

What are you trying to do?

aztec-up is installing incorrect version

Documentation and help says to install versions this way

aztec-up -v 3.0.0-devnet.6-patch.1

It shows:

Pulling aztec version 3.0.0-devnet.6-patch.1...
3.0.0-devnet.6-patch.1: Pulling from aztecprotocol/aztec

but still

is

It's due to the aztec shell script:

#!/usr/bin/env bash
set -euo pipefail

NETWORK=${NETWORK:-}
VERSION=${VERSION:-${NETWORK:-"latest"}} # <-- here

DOCKER_REPO=${DOCKER_REPO:-"aztecprotocol/aztec"}

If the VERSION env variable is not set, it will use the latest docker image tag.

To clean up run:

docker image rm aztecprotocol/aztec:latest 

Then edit this line in aztec-up:

-  bash <(curl -s "$install_url")
+  bash <(curl -sSL "$install_url")

Then you can do:

VERSION=3.0.0-devnet.6-patch.1 aztec-up

another workaround could have also been to run

VERSION=3.0.0-devnet.6-patch.1 aztec

then after that docker image gets downloaded also tag it as latest.

The various aztec command lines tools are just shell-script wrappers to work with different docker images.
