Description

@tacking6552

System

  • Device: MacBook Pro 17,1 (M1, 2020)
  • OS: Fedora Asahi Remix
  • Kernel: 6.18.10-402.asahi.fc42.aarch64+16k
  • Dock: Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Pro Dock

Problem

Elgato TB3 Pro Dock is not detected at all when connected.
boltctl list returns empty. kscreen-doctor --outputs shows only internal display (eDP-1).

Relevant kernel log

Repeated on every power cycle / resume:

IOAVVideoInterface open failed
set_digital_out_mode returned 8000000b
set_digital_out_mode finished:8500

No Thunderbolt enumeration events visible in dmesg when dock is connected.
Full dmesg attached.

Additional findings

The dock is not recognized at all - not as Thunderbolt, not as USB device.

  • lsusb returns empty with dock connected
  • boltctl list returns empty
  • ip link show shows no ethernet interface

All dock functionality is unavailable:

  • External display: not working
  • LAN (USB ethernet): not working
  • USB audio: not working

The Thunderbolt controller does not enumerate the dock at all.
